Innovations in ICTs as a tool to improve the competitiveness of family beekeepers.

Context of the story

ICTs can enhance the competitive advantage of a company and a sector. The purpose is to make a proposal for the implementation of ICTs for the beekeeping sector, given that there is a potential for their implementation to improve their competitiveness. The project has a systemic approach, taking into account that different public and private organizations must participate. It is intended to develop highly competitive agribusiness systems for the production and export of honey.

The implemented initiative

The purpose of the project was to make a proposal for the implementation of ICTs for the beekeeping sector, given that there is a potential for their implementation in order to improve competitiveness. For this, the following areas of intervention were proposed: a) registration of processes / traceability; formalization of producers; b) beehive monitoring; c) geopositioning. The project contemplates a systemic approach, taking into account that different public and private organizations must participate. It is expected that highly competitive agribusiness systems for the production and export of honey can be developed, based on meeting demand requirements, reducing costs and improving the productivity of the hive.

The technological solution

Promote the dissemination and adoption of ICTs in beekeeping, in order to increase the productivity of family farmers by improving the decision-making process. For this, the following areas of intervention are proposed: a) registration of processes / traceability; formalization of producers; b) beehive monitoring; c) geopositioning.
